About Ballet Strength Founder, Nikol Klein
“Klein continues to emerge as a strength for Ballet Oklahoma, and she shines anew in this, one of the strong moments of the show.”
-Review of Ballet Oklahoma’s Spirit Dances, Patrick McGuigan
Nikol Klein began her ballet training with the Pittsburgh Youth Ballet and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. Her most influential mentors include Patrick Hinson, Truman Finney, David Holladay, Tamar Rachelle, and Janet Popeleski. She spent summers dancing on scholarship with The Chautauqua Ballet, American Ballet Theatre New York, School of American Ballet, and The Rock School of Pennsylvania Ballet.
Ms. Klein’s professional career began in 1999 with The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre performing in productions such as George Balanchine’s, The Nutcracker. Nikol was also a dancer with Ballet Austin in the 2001-2002 season.
Following a year long injury rehabilitation hiatus, Ms. Klein joined Ballet Oklahoma (currently Oklahoma City Ballet) under the Artistic Direction of former New York City Ballet Dancer, Bryan Pitts. During her four year tenure with Ballet Oklahoma, Ms. Klein had the honor of performing Principal and Soloist roles in ballets including The Nutcracker, The Three Musketeers, Saturday Night Promenade, Dracula’s Revenge, Coppelia, Tangos, Spirit Dances, and Peter Anastos Sweet Dreams.
During her time with Ballet Oklahoma she began to experiment and eventually create her own method of not only personal training for women, but strength training for dancers. Enter Ballet Strength.
Nikol currently resides in San Diego, California and continues to perform professionally as a free-lance Dancer while continuing her career as a Women’s Fitness Expert, Ballet Strength Coach, and mentor to young dancers. She is the author of The Ballet Audition Preparation Guide , Beginning Ballet Strength, and Ballet Core Strength. Three books designed to help young dancers reach their goals and get noticed in auditions.
In February of 2011, Ms. Klein released the Ballet Strength DVD which has been quoted as “the dancer’s secret weapon” and is a cutting edge, technical breakthrough in ballet technique.
Nikol is now coaching professional dancers throughout the country with her Ballet Strength Method of cross training and injury prevention. She offers one on one services in the Southern California area and also remote online training for those who are unable to travel to her San Diego studio.
